I want to have my configuration somewhere else than the default location, for example in an external drive, so that if I reinstall the operating system I don't have to rehash all the files. I'm going to try to move it and then symlink it, and it will probably work but it's still a good feature to have.

This worked fine with the symlink so I no longer think it's necessary.
